Dubai launched its Tourism Blockchain Marketplace, a virtual B2B marketplace, with the objective to facilitate the global tourists with a better access to the domestic tourism industry. The initiative, part of the Dubai 10x initiative, will also provide fair opportunity to the new and innovative start-ups and other smaller travel firms to reach the customers and offer their services. In the first phase, the marketplace will also mark an addition of extra distribution hotel channels in the next 2 years.
Dubai has adopted and implemented the blockchain technology in various spheres of the economy under the Dubai 10x initiative including government services. The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is also deploying the blockchain technology for vehicle tracking system, which will be in place by 2020. The demand of blockchain technology deployment is also gaining pace owing to the increased popularity of cryptocurrencies among the consumers.
The technological advancement in the tourism industry also offers opportunity for the business to develop innovative ideas for providing distinctive traveler experience.
